Rerun

Big Apple Ballroom presents Rerun: Don't Touch That Dial
Directed by Michael Choi · Produced by Ema Nohálová
Rerun is Big Apple Ballroom's fall showcase, and it's a love letter to the classic TV shows and themes that shaped our imaginations. Think of the theme songs you can still sing all the way through, the Saturday morning lineup, the sitcom families you grew up with, the variety hours, and the late-night reruns you weren't supposed to be up for. Each number on the program is its own episode, a ballroom, Latin or theatrical routine set to music that sounds like somebody's living room from another decade.
Most of the dancers on that stage are amateurs. They're students of the studio with jobs and families, and they spent the fall rehearsing for this one night alongside their teachers. A few of Big Apple Ballroom's professionals perform as well. Watching people you could sit next to on the subway take a stage and dance like that is half the fun of the evening.
If the only ballroom you've seen is on a TV competition, this is the warmer, funnier and more personal version, and you may well leave wanting to try it yourself.
Monday, November 2, 2026, at 7:00 PM. The Kaye Playhouse at Hunter College, entrance on 68th Street between Lexington and Park. Reserved seating, $40. The show runs about two hours.
